Born 1962. Graduated from the "Lina Hilger" High School in Bad Kreuznach 1980. Married to Evelyn Lamest-Gräf (1985), father of Sebastian (*1989) and the triples Janosch, Yannic and Miriam (*1991). 1990-1991: EDP referee at the RIVA GmbH in Mainz. 1991: Diploma in Mathematics at the Johannes Gutenberg-University of Mainz ("Efficient Pattern Matching for Term Rewriting"; see also "Left-to-right tree pattern matching," published in Proceedings Rewriting Techniques and Applications (RTA) Como 1991, LNCS 488). Since 1991: Research Assistant at the Department of Musicinformatics of the Johannes Gutenberg-University. 1995: PhD in Computer Science/Mathematics at the Johannes Gutenberg-University ("Coloring and Recognizing Special Graph Classes," published as report no. 20/1995 in the series " Musikinformatik & Medientechnik"). 1996: Dissertation Award of the "Vereinigung der Freunde der Universität Mainz e.V." Since 1998: Scientific Assistant at the Johannes Gutenberg-University, head of the Department of Musicinformatics. Member of the "European Association of Theoretical Computer Science" (EATCS), of the "Vereinigung der Freunde der Universität Mainz e.V." and of the "Club Georg Forster e.V." Main interests: compilers, (functional) programming languages, algorithmic graph theory, combinatorial optimization, mathematical theory of music. Research projects: "Coloring problems in the planning of frequency assignments" (1991-1995, supported by the Ministry of Commerce, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture of Rhineland-Palatinate under the Programme of the Association for Research in Media Technology in South-West Germany (FMS)), "Algorithmic foundations of network planning" (1997, supported by the Rhineland-Palatinate Foundation for Innovation) and "Graph-theoretic methods in the planning of digital broadcast networks" (since Nov 1997, supported by the Ministry of Commerce, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture of Rhineland-Palatinate under the FMS II Programme). Hobbies: music, programming, Linux, free software.
