Auto
Der Campus der JGU ist verkehrsbeschränkt, das heißt, es ist nur eine einzige Einfahrt pro Woche möglich. Wer dennoch an einem einzigen Tag davon Gebrauch machen möchte, muss das Navi in zwei Schritten programmieren:
- Ziel: GPS-Koordinaten N 49.591902 O 8.135495 = Hauptpforte der Universität, Ackermannweg 12
- Ziel: Jakob-Welder-Weg 18, 55128 Mainz = Philosophicum
Alternativ kann auch der Parkplatz ‚Dahlheimer Weg‘ angesteuert werden, der ist in aller Regel allerdings recht voll und ca. 10-15 Minuten Fußweg vom Philosophicum entfernt.
Es empfiehlt sich nicht, in den Seitenstraßen der Saarstraße (im Stadtteil Münchfeld) zu parken, dort sind alle Parkplätze für Anwohner*innen reserviert und das Mainzer Ordnungsamt ist ausgesprochen fleißig.
Bahn
aus Richtung Frankfurt/Main fahren regelmäßig S-Bahnen (S8 Richtung Wiesbaden), Regionalbahnen verschiedener Anbieter (DB, Vlexx usw.) sowie ICs und ICEs – sinnvollster Halt in der Nähe der JGU ist Mainz-Hauptbahnhof

Flugzeug
Sinnvoll anzusteuern ist ausschließlich der Flughafen Frankfurt Rhein-Main-Airport (FRA). Von dort fahren regelmäßig S-Bahnen (S8 Richtung Wiesbaden), Regionalbahnen verschiedener Anbieter (DB, Vlexx usw.) sowie ICs und ICEs nach Mainz. Am Frankfurter Flughafen gibt es hierfür allerdings zwei verschiedene Bahnhöfe, den Fernbahnhof und den Regionalbahnhof (ca. 10-15 Minuten Fußweg voneinander entfernt).
Der Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn ist hingegen nicht zu empfehlen: Er liegt ca. 90 Minuten Busfahrt von Mainz entfernt, der Bus fährt nur alle drei Stunden und kostet pro Fahrt ca. 10,00 €uro.
By car
The campus of the JGU is traffic restricted, which means that only one entry per week is allowed. If you still want to make use of this 'single day', please program your navigation system in two steps:
1st destination: GPS coordinates N 49.591902 O 8.135495 = main gate of the university, Ackermannweg 12
2nd destination: Jakob-Welder-Weg 18, 55128 Mainz = Philosophicum
Alternatively, you might head for the car park 'Dahlheimer Weg', but it is usually quite crowded and about 10-15 minutes walk from the Philosophicum.
It is not recommended to park in the side streets of the Saarstraße (in the district of Münchfeld), since all parking spaces are reserved for residents and the Mainz traffic authorities are working very hard.
By train
from the direction of Frankfurt / Main: the so-called S-Bahn (S8 direction Wiesbaden), regional trains of various providers (DB, Vlexx, etc.) and ICs and ICEs run regularly – recommended stop near the JGU is Mainz main station

By air
It is recommended to head for Frankfurt Rhein-Main-Airport (FRA). From there the so-called S-Bahn (S8 direction Wiesbaden), regional trains of various providers (DB, Vlexx, etc.) and ICs and ICEs run regularly to Mainz. At Frankfurt airport there are however two different stations, the long-distance station and the regional station (about 10-15 minutes walk away from each other).
Frankfurt-Hahn airport is not recommended: it takes a 90 minutes bus ride to/from Mainz, the bus runs only every three hours and costs about € 10.00 per trip.
